Amaka Speaks at Charity Ladies Lunch
Recently, we had the pleasure of attending the Rossendale Trust‘s charity ladies lunch with a fashion show from SOS clothing, and it was a fantastic -event. The afternoon was filled with laughter, delicious food, and of course, stunning fashion designs on the runway.
Our founder, Amaka, was honoured to be the speaker at the event. She spoke passionately about the importance of women’s safety and the role that bystanders can play in creating a safer environment for women.
Amaka highlighted the fact that women, unfortunately, face harassment and assault on a daily basis, and it’s something that needs to change.
She then went on to discuss the concept of being an active bystander. Essentially, this means taking action when you see someone being harassed or assaulted, instead of simply standing by and doing nothing. Amaka emphasized that being an active bystander doesn’t always mean physically intervening; it can also mean speaking up or calling for help when you see someone in trouble.
Women’s safety is a crucial issue that affects us all, and being an active bystander is a simple yet effective way to make a difference.
Attending the charity ladies lunch with a fashion show was a fantastic experience and it was an incredible opportunity to raise awareness and support our mission. Amaka’s speech on being an active bystander in the mission to create a safer community for women was a powerful reminder that we can all play a part in making the world a better place.
