They say the internet can be a general unsafe and scary place; the safety of women when they get online is of paramount importance. 

When online, women are exposed to all manner of potential abuse from a variety of trolls, online misogynists and even other would be keyboard warriors. From online bullying to sexist comments to other forms of harassment; while the internet opens lines for fantastic discussions and general discourse, the internet is not without it’s dark side. Online abuse can constitute as abuse received on social media, online gaming, over text messages or on the internet more broadly.  

It is often citied that around 60% of women believe online abuse is a serious problem. In addition to this, many of the same women have at some time or another have received some form of online abuse. More broadly speaking, at least 1 in 5 adults have received some form of abuse online.

Everyone deserves the right to feel safe online. By joining our cause, you will be helping to make girls and women feel safer online. With so much of our lives now taking place online; it seems inevitable that most women will have to go online at some point. And when they do, they must feel safe!
